This could easily be Eli

by on Dec.12, 2011, under Just for fun

I got this from a friend via email.  Had to share it.  Check out the boy to right of Tennessee Ernie.  I sat there and laughed – how easily this could have been Eli.

OUCH!

As some of you may know, my parents decided to get chickens earlier this year.  Well, they started getting eggs.  Now they get eggs everyday. And on this occasion this weekend, dad got a BIG suprise.  This egg is huge.  All I can think abou is how sore this chicken might be.  I can only imagine the “cluck” it had while laying this egg!

RedsFest 2011 Review

by on Dec.04, 2011, under Family, Just for fun

What an experience!  This place was BUSY…  Lots of stuff happening all at once – you really need to know what you want to do before going there.  We didn’t, but still had a GREAT time.  The boys absolutely loved it.

Remember that Ethan was going as Mr. Redlegs?  Well, guess who the first character we saw walking into RedsFest?  You guessed it.  Mr. Redlegs.  Best part, Mr. Redlegs saw Ethan and picked him up!  Mr. Redlegs loved it!  So did Ethan…

From there, we became on a mission to find the rest of the mascots of the Reds and get their pictures with the boys too.  As we were walking we headed by the main stage.  Just at that time, Topps happened to be starting a gameshow that involved their baseball cards.  The host of the show saw Ethan in his Reds outfit, and asked to help him on stage!  Ethan got to go up on the stage and annouce his name, and get to call out numbers for the game they were playing.  He  got his picture on the big screens all over the Redsfest!  Then they gave him a whole set of Reds baseball cards.  The whole team!  We was grinning from  ear to ear at this point.

We then started to move on, walking through the aisles, we hear Gapper whistle really loud…  Giving Ethan the thumbs up of approval for his costume.  We then went over and got pictures with him  too.

OK, two down and two to go.  We headed over toward the kids play zone to take a break (yeah right).  Eli was all about pitching, running, and bouncing.  They both got to throw the baseball, run the bases, and bounce in the Reds bouncy house.  Ethan got to go golfing while there too.

So off we go – continuing in our search of Mr. Red and Rosie.  In the meantime, we see this line start to form really fast.  So for some odd reason, we decided to jump in on the action, having no idea where we are going or who we might see.

Once we get in line, pretty close to the front actually, we ask… “What’s happening in this line?”  Someone was kind enough to tell us that we were in line to see JOEY VOTTO!!!  JACKPOT!

We had our picture taken with him – however – our wonderful son decided to take his picture that cost us $10 with his Mr.Redlegs head on!  So we now have a picture of Daddy, Mommy, Eli, and …..  Mr.Redlegs.  What a memory.

By this time the boys are getting tired and we all are getting hungry.  It’s time to work our way back to the entrance to leave.  On the way out, we happened to walk right up and by Mr. Red!  Woo hoo.  Guess what?  He loved the costume too.  More pics!

So, we saw three out of four, we never did see Rosie, but had a fun time, and then a good night sleep!

Redsfest – Here we come!

by on Dec.02, 2011, under Family, Just for fun

Tonight we will get to fill a couple of our boys dreams to be immersed into Baseball greatness.  They LOVE baseball.  And I don’t just say that lightly.  Ethan this year, starting in about March, said that he wanted to be Mr.Redlegs for Halloween.  He mentioned it almost every week.  Eli, every time we go past a ball park, he yells “BASEBALL”.  They still talk about flying to go see a baseball game – not that we saw the Grand Canyon.  And that was almost two years ago!

So tonight, they will get to meet baseball players, and do all things baseball.  Ethan plans on wearing his halloween costume.  So if you make it down to Redsfest tonight, and you see this:

it’s us.

Just so you know.

TRAPPED! (In my own garage)

by on Dec.01, 2011, under Family

So, tonight coming home for the evening, we pull into the garage, and we all get out.  Me of course being the last one out and checking to make sure everything is out of the car, get locked out of my own house.  The boys and Cindy walk in and lock the door behind them!  And so I knock…. then I pound…. and yell…but NO- no one comes to unlock that darn door to let me in.  I quickly check my cell phone for calling 911 to let me in my house…DEAD – right there on the spot.   So, in order to save myself from the cold night I believe I will be spending in the garage, I go into survival mode.  I grab my chair, and then a comforter that is in the cabinet out there – and snuggle up.  Then, I start to feel the cold night starting to come upon me.  So I cover up in the chair, shivering desiring to build a fire…  After a little bit, I decide – it’s MacGver mode time, so I pull out th lint and keys I have in my pocket and rig up an alarm system by pushing a button to sound the van alarm to alert someone of my demise.  Does that work?  You guessed it… NOPE.  So I go back to my chair and decide to tough it out for the night.  I sit back in my chair and cover up, making sure everything is covered up to stay warm.  A LONG TIME later finally I hear something.  Can it be my rescuer?  Well all be… it is.  My beautiful bride comes through that door, unlocking it for my safety!  Wow what a relief.  Thanks!

Let’s not mention that this took place in a matter of 20 minutes, and I could have potentially could have opened the garage door and went to the front door and rang the doorbell.  This is my story of my close demise and life threatening emergency.  I was SAVED!
